Community Class on the Patio

I am currently going through 300-hr teacher training with Heather Seagraves Somatics and Hot Yoga Plus, which has been interesting due to Covid-19. We did a lot of discussion/lecture via zoom the first several months. Thankfully, we are finally able to get together in person, and it’s been GREAT! There are several outside hours and requirements for this training, including a final project (this website!) and community hours. The pandemic shut down several of my community service ideas, and I’ve gone back and forth with new ideas. But what I keep going back to is engagement and a safe space. So, many of us are still struggling with our new normal. Some of our kids may have FINALLY returned back to school, but things are still so different—digital learning, staggered days, MASKS….and it can be overwhelming still. My husband is the executive director of a longterm care & rehab center, and this has been a high stress time for our family. We have all been touched, in some way, by the virus.

Some of us have made it back to our mats in-studio, some on zoom, and some are still missing out, either deciding virtual yoga isn’t their thing, or maybe a yoga membership is no longer in the budget.…OR they still feel unsafe coming back into the studio. All of these reasons, are completely valid. My mat has definitely been my safe place during these strange times, and I want to create more opportunities for Memphis yogis to practice and engage with others in a safe space. Last week, my family was asked to participate in a news story about digital learning, and how Covid-19 has affected parents’ mental health. It is so important to find that space where you can put all your “stuff’ to the side, and physical activity can be a very effective method for this.

Beginning Friday September 4th, I’d like to offer a donation-based community class on my patio, where we can adequately space ourselves out and still ENGAGE with our fellow yogis. Classes are one hour long and will begin at 9am, weather permitting. Would like to offer these classes all of September, but if the weather will hold, we could even push them into November. Bring a towel/mat/drink. I hope to see you soon!

Text me with any questions: (901)-848-0082. Address Available upon request. I’m in East Memphis.

xoxo
